Cantus X – Verortung
for electric cello and electronic sounds
"Cantus X - Verortung" stands as a complementary continuation of "Cantus XVI - Risse im Cobalt" for the challenge of experiencing and living one's own stance in a centered way within a complex, dynamic environment.
The musical metaphors for tempo, pressure and shrilly externally imposed values point to expectations of submitting to the standardizing demands of a supposed self-optimization: to exceed one's own limits, to prioritize effectiveness, to live at a constantly high pace.
Freedom for Authenticity
Such yardsticks hollow out life. They stand in contradiction to clear, consciously centered presence. In "Verortung" there is a return to a powerfully serene expanse of contemplative radiance: wide-spanning melodic solo arcs shape intensity, depth, lead into a space of inner freedom, at the same time using the dynamics of the transcended environment.
"X" refers to the tarot card "Wheel of Fortune". It stands for life cycles, fate, change and the acceptance of the inevitable.
Stylistically, the complex, demanding environment is translated through a stylizing interpretation of elements of "Electronic Dance Music" (EDM).
Versions
This final version is a fundamentally revised new version of the composition "Verortung" from 2026, which in turn goes back to first sketches from 2022.
In this version the solo part (electronic cello) is embedded in the electronically realized sound context. Alternatively, it can be performed live.
